Neapolitan Arch
Hike Review
Cassie and I hiked around the Neapolitan Arch.
There is no established trail, so we just walked everywhere we pleased.
We saw footsteps, but no other people around; there was no trash.
There were plenty of sandstone formations to explore.
What Happened?
.5 miles, 36 mins, 58 ft of ascent
We stopped by the Whitney Pockets Arch Day Use parking area (intersection of Gold Butte Road and Nays Ranch Road) to use the restroom. While there, we spotted the Neapolitan Arch and took a short hike to check it out.
As this was our first time in Gold Butte National Monument, we were wowed by the rock formations and the lack of people enjoying them. There were no trails, but there were still footsteps to follow; we just spent a bit of time scampering over the rock formations and taking in the views. While the rock felt similar to other sandstone rock formations we’ve explored before, the deep orange color was new to us.
We had our fun, but headed back to our cars as we had a packed day planned and we couldn’t dawdle about any longer.
