Keyhole Canyon Dispersed Camping

Camp Review

  • We camped on BLM land right outside of Keyhole Canyon.

  • There were half a dozen fire rings, which let us know that this was a well-established dispersed campsite. There were no bathrooms, though.

  • Highway 95 was visible, but it was at least two miles away, so noise was minimal, and we had a good sense of privacy.

  • There was no one else that camped overnight, though there were a few people that showed up early in the morning.

  • There was no trash that we could see, which was a welcome surprise.

  • Most of the parking spots were tilted in one way or another, though we were able to find a spot that was relatively level.

What Happened?

After a long day where we spent the morning exploring Gold Butte National Monument, enjoyed the afternoon where we hiked to Arizona Hot Springs, and had dinner in Las Vegas, we decided to camp right outside of where we wanted to go canyoneering the next day. This location was accessible after a few miles of driving on unpaved dirt roads, but the roads weren’t too bad (in the morning, a Prius made it to this location).

We parked and promptly fell asleep as we were tired after a long day. The night was quiet, and we had a great night camping. In the morning, we woke up and got ready for another full day of fun.
